The Town Of Cicero

2020世界杯40强赛赛程President Larry Dominick along with with Town Of Cicero Trustees Maria Punzo-Arias, Fran Reitz, Joe Virruso, Emilio Cundari, Larry Banks, Victor Garica, Bob Porod, and John Cava work continuously together to make sure our students, their families, and our staff have the resources and opportunities we need to keep igniting our road to excellence!

EL GRITO CEREMONY

MEXICAN INDEPENDENCE

To demonstrate strong partnership with both the Town of Cicero and families across the community, dozens of administrators, teachers and staff from Cicero District 99 turn out for Cicero's annual Mexican Independence Day celebrations. 

District employees board decorated floats and convertibles or walk the parade route along Cermak Road to pass out candy and cheer on crowds of guests from all ages proudly celebrating Mexican heritage.

The Town also hosts a four day weekend event at Cicero Community Park that have carnival ride, Mexican food booths, folkloric music and cultural Mexican performances, topped off by a fireworks show. District 99 representatives man a booth every year to give away District-branded swag

HOUBY FEST

2020世界杯40强赛赛程Students, faculty and families travel down Cermak Road from 54th Avenue in Cicero to Riverside Drive in Berwyn to patricipate in the annual Houby Day Parade.

Houby Fest began in 1968 as a celebration of the Berwyn-Cicero area's Czech and Slovak heritage, and has grown into an annual harvest and cultural celebration that bring thousands of people to the community.

The weekend-long festival draws thousands of people from across Chicagoland to experience different cultural foods, visit vendors, create arts and crafts, shop at sidewalk sales and meet the Houby Queen!

2020世界杯40强赛赛程In recent years, the biggest attractions for the festival is the half-mile long carnival and live musical performances. Bands such as 7th Heaven, 16 Candles, and The Boy Band Night have performed.

AMERICAN FEST

2020世界杯40强赛赛程Every summer, Town President Larry Dominick and the Department of Special Events host's Cicero's American Fest Celebration at the Cicero Fairgrounds (34th & Laramie) with drinks, food, music, and the best firework show you will ever see!

Cicero District 99 always has an outreach tent at the fest where kids can spin a wheel and win District 99 branded materials!

DISASTER RELIEF

We believe it is important to help others when they need it the most. Whether we can help raise funds, sell raffles, provide entertainment, or just be a presence Cicero District 99 is here to help.

SENIOR CITIZEN APPRECIATION

2020世界杯40强赛赛程Cicero District 99 believes that students and staff need to understand the importance of giving back to our elders; whose tax dollars help fund our schools and show those who once walked in the same hallways as our students a great amount of appreciation. 

KEEPING CICERO CLEAN

Cicero District 99 students and staff team up every spring with Cicero Town President Larry Dominick, Town Assessor Emilio Cundari and other Cicero business partners and educators for the Town's annual spring cleanup week; traveling throughout the town picking up garbage and sweeping up trash and debris from nature, demonstrating the importance of living in a clean community.

District volunteers were also joined in the cleaning efforts by Board President Tom Tomschin and board members Derek Dominick and Jorge Rueda.

PARENT PATROL

2020世界杯40强赛赛程In appreciation of all the work Cicero's Parent Patrol volunteers do for the children and families of the town, Cicero District 99 and the Town of Cicero host Luncheons from them twice a year. 

Since the program's first celebration in 2009, Parent Patrol has grown from seven parents to now over 300. 

Cicero Police Department

2020世界杯40强赛赛程Police Superintendent Jerry Chlada, Jr and the entire Town Of Cicero Police Department work together with Cicero District 99 to keep are children safe each and every day. 

Whether they are paroling our streets or visiting our schools the department's number one goal is to make sure our students, their families, and staff know they are here to help. 

OPERATION SANTA

Operation Santa is an initiative between the Illinois State Police Heritage Foundation (ISPHF) and Walmart designed to surprise children living in lower-income areas with presents and a dose of holiday cheer. 

The event starts with a parade outside one of our District 99 schools, with Illinois State Police and Cicero Police Department squad cards, Cicero Fire Department trucks and Santa and Mrs. Claus making their grand entrance by motorcycle. 

Throughout the day, classrooms take turn visiting the gym for snacks, crafts, present opening and pictures with Santa.

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT

Cicero District 99 is proud to participate with The Town Of Cicero and President Larry Dominick in the annual National Night Out.

2020世界杯40强赛赛程This is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make Cicero a safer, more caring place to live. It also provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

Cicero Mexican Cultural Committee

Mr. Frank Aguilar and The Cicero Mexican Cultural Committee is a huge partner with Cicero District 99 when it comes to getting in touch with our Mexican heritage and share it's rich culture and history with our community through educational and civic events.

Events we partner up with the committee include Day Of The Dead2020世界杯40强赛赛程, Christmas Posada, and Day Of The Child.

POSADA 

2020世界杯40强赛赛程In a proud display of community pride and Christmas spirit, Cicero District 99 partner with the Town of Cicero and the Cicero Mexican Cultural Committee for its annual Cicero Christmas Posada celebration at Cicero Stadium.

The program honors the cherished Mexican Christmas tradition of posadas ("inns" or "shelters"), community celebrations which take place on each of the nine evenings leading up to Christmas Day to commemorate the Biblical story of Mary and Joseph's journey to Bethlehem for the birth of Jesus Christ.

Hundreds of local families turn out for an evening of seasonal fun, with traditional Mexican Nativity reenactments, photos with Santa, food, raffles and music. 

Visits from Senorita Miss Cicero and town officials help lead children and their families in song and wishes for a happy holiday season.

 

 

LOS 99ERS PERFORM AT CHRISTMAS POSADA

2020世界杯40强赛赛程District 99 helps provide musical entertainment, displays student artwork, and host an information booth where District branded prizes are given away.

Continuing Education

J. Sterling Morton High School

J. Sterling Morton High School District 201 is the local high school here in the Cicero area that provides inspiration and enrichment to the students through opportunities and resources supportive to their educational experiences.

Morton partners up with us in our annual Back To School Fair 2020世界杯40强赛赛程and various student groups most notably their band comes back to visit and perform for the schools they once attended here at District 99.

Morton College

Morton College, the second oldest community college in Illinois, was founded in 1924 to meet the educational demands in the growing communities of Berwyn, Cicero, Forest View, Lyons, McCook, Stickney and other near-western suburbs.

As a comprehensive community college that is recognized by the Illinois Community College Board, Morton College's mission is to enhance the quality of life of our diverse community through exemplary teaching and learning opportunities, community service, and life-long learning.

Other Community Partners

2020世界杯40强赛赛程Fire Chief Dominick Buscemi and the entire Cicero Fire Department work tirelessly to teach our students, staff, and community the importance of fire safety. 

The department always hosts field trips for our schools to come and visit the various fire stations around town, participate in our school's career days, and is a key sponsor in our Back To School Fair

2020世界杯40强赛赛程Director Sandra Tomschin and the Cicero Public Library have joined forces with us to remind parents and students that signing up for a library card is the first step toward academic achievement and lifelong learning.

It is also a place where you can go and see our student art work created in our classrooms that is displayed all year long in various areas of the library.

 

The Cicero Community Outreach Department serves a hub of information and support for the Town Of Cicero community. Continuously looking for new and creative ways to expand resources, programs, and support to Cicero residents. 

The department uses several District 99 schools to host their  2020世界杯40强赛赛程and run their "Unify Friday" open gym program at Unity Junior High School every Friday night from 6-9 p.m.

2020世界杯40强赛赛程The A.E.M. Boys Club Of Cicero enables all young people, especially those who need them the most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens by keeping kids on track, ensuring kids are healthy and fit, and developing future leaders.

The club provides a safe place to learn and grow with ongoing relationships with caring, adult professionals, life-enhancing programs and character development experiences. 

Corazon Community Services mission is to improve the quality of life for children, youth and families through holistic social services offered in a culturally sensitive environment. 

The organization hosts its Teen REACH academic after-school program at Unity Junior High School to inspire cultural awareness, develop and strengthen mentoring and leadership skills, while engaging in life skills activities and promoting parental involvement.

The Cicero Community Collaborative was founded in 2017 due to the historical success of the Cicero Youth Task Force, and the new energy and resources provided by the Cicero Neighborhood Network Project. 

Through the merger of ideas, talent, and passion to improve Cicero, the new Collaborative intends to be an active response to many of the challenges facing local youth and families.

Giving Back

UCP Seguin is a Cicero-based nonprofit who serves individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities from the Cicero/Berwyn area and across the near-west suburbs. Services include full-time group homes, life skills training programs, and day field trips and activities programs.

2020世界杯40强赛赛程Cicero District 99 believes in giving back to its community partners so our students enjoy performing holiday concerts and making crafts with the Seguin residents. 

Every year during the holiday season District 99 students raise money to purchase toys for local children in need and bring them over to the Salvation Army's Templo-Laramie location in Cicero.
